New Committee Formed

A meeting was held at Notts County on Thursday 9th February as complaints were being received by supporters that they did not know what was happening with the fund and it was being neglected, Les Bradd reiterated this, and the matter had to be resolved which is why the meeting had been called, all present at the meeting were in agreement.

It was decided that a new structure be formed for the fund and the following elections were passed unanimously:

President - Ray Trew,

Patrons - Aileen Trew, Les Bradd, Colin Slater

Chair - Malcolm Voce

Vice Chair - Lisa Black

Secretary - Jürgen Halligan

Treasurer - Leanne Mayo

Web Master - Jürgen Halligan

Minutes Secretary - Iris Smith

The following were elected to the fund raising committee:

Ian Baggott, Andy Black, Lisa Black, Lynn Lawson, Dave Jackson, Ken Sharp, Kevin Warren and Jimmy Willan.

It was generally felt amongst the new ideas that have been discussed, the website would play an important role, as a point of contact for supporters, a point of information of all things relating to what we, as a committee are doing, and more important to show that everything is transparent. Jürgen has now initiated this new website and will keep the site up to date.

The Total amount in the Statue fund account as at 9th February is £18,843.25.

About The Fund

Jimmy & JackLaunched in May 2010 the aim of the Jimmy & Jack Memorial Fund was to once and for all get a campaign to fund a statue for Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler up and running. There have long been calls for statues in honour of these County legends, and for a number of fans it was on of the biggest insults during the Munto con when Trembling used promise of a statue for Sirrel to get fans on side during takeover talks.

The fund formed a committee on 25 May 2010 whose role is to ensure the management of the fund and to act as a central point for all things to do with the campaign. The committee hold’s a monthly meeting at Meadow Lane and amongst those who attend are Notts chairman Ray Trew, the legendary Colin Slater and the Magpies all time number one goalscorer Les Bradd, who also act’s as the fund patron.

The cost of the statue has already been agreed with the chosen sculptor, Andrew Edwards, and will be £75,000, with the fund ideally hoping to raise the fund in time for the statue to be unveiled during the clubs 150th anniversary year – in 2012.

To raise money towards this target of £75,000, 1000 names are available for fans to have their name engraved onto the plinth at £25 per name and it is hoped this will raise £25,000 towards the final cost of the statue.
